The water-based quality makes it easy to wipe off mistakes, but it also causes it to crack if you put it on too thick. I just had to find a way for them to work for me -- and that's using them to tip my nails to get the curve I want and then going over it quickly with a similar colored nail polish to prevent my tips from cracking when I put the clear top coat. However, holding the pen with my left hand can get a bit tricky, since I'm right-handed. To get better control when painting my right hand, I hold the pen still on my left hand and then move my right hand instead. My nail polish usually goes at least 1 week without chipping -- sometimes even 2 weeks. Do you use both base and top coats?
