Sophia Bush Inspired Makeup Look (REQUEST)

I received this request:

“Hi! First of all, I wanted to say that you do your makeup really well. Now, I want to do my makeup like this [picture of Sophia Bush] because we share the same coloring and features, but I don’t know how to do it.”

I included the picture that was sent to me below, and here’s what I came up with:

For those of you who are not familiar with Sophia Bush, she’s an actress — very pretty and smart (she went to USC for three years before landing her role in One Tree Hill)! Sophia looks really tan in this picture (which I’m sure has to do with the lighting) and I couldn’t see her eye shadow that well, but I picked out the characteristics that I could see and incorporated them in my inspired look. Sophia’s eyeshadow is pretty minimal — there’s a hint of a metallic bronze in the middle of her crease, her liner doesn’t go all the way to her inner corners, and only the outer lash line is defined. Her cheeks have some color and glow, and her lips are natural but shiny.

Here are the steps I came up with for this Sophia Bush inspired look (after applying moisturizer, face primer, and foundation):

STEP 1

Apply an eye primer to your entire lid to help your eyeshadow last longer and go on smoother.

I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance with a MAC 249 brush.

STEP 2

To achieve a metallic effect, apply MAC Greasepaint Stick in “Below Ground” along the outer two thirds of your lower lid.

STEP 3

Apply “Below Ground” to the outer half of your lower lash line.

STEP 4

Using a matte eyeshadow similar to your skin color, apply the color to your inner corner and inner lower lash line.

I used MAC E/S in “Brule” with a MAC 239 brush.

STEP 5

Now use a brownish gold eyeshadow like MAC E/S in “Woodwinked”, and apply it to the center lower lid and center lower lash line.

STEP 6

Using the same brush, apply a darker brown eyeshadow like MAC E/S in “Satin Taupe” to the outer lower lid and outer lower lash line. Blend where this color meets the color from Step 5.

STEP 7

Apply the same eyeshadow from Step 4 (the eyeshadow close to your skin color) as your highlight/brow bone color.

STEP 8

Line the outer two thirds of your upper lash line with a dark brown color (Sophia’s eyeliner does not go all the way to her inner corners).

I used Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in “Chocolate Shimmer”.

STEP 9

Line the outer third of your lower lash line with a dark brown color as well.

I used MAC Eye Kohl in “Teddy”.

Then curl your lashes and apply black mascara. If you’d like, you can also put on a pair of fake lashes to match Sophia Bush’s really long lashes in the above picture.

STEP 10

Now apply a beige-pink blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards diagonally.

I used MAC Sheertone Blush in “Blushbaby”.

STEP 11

To achieve Sophia’s glow on her cheeks, I used MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in “Soft & Gentle” (one of my favorite MAC products of all time — see my review!). Apply this to the apples of your cheeks, right on top of the blush you used in Step 10.

STEP 12

Line your lips with a brown-toned lip liner one to two shades darker than your natural lip color.

I used MAC Cremestick Liner in “Caramellow”.

STEP 13

Apply a soft pale pink lipstick that has some shine to your lips.

I used MAC L/S in “Hue” since it’s a glaze and has shine without having to use lip gloss.

And you’re done! :)
