Creating contrast is a great way of bringing attention to a particular area — in this case I want the focus to be on the cream color on my eyes. I wore a dress similar in color to MAC “Dazzlelight” eyeshadow, so I wanted to feature this neutral shimmery shade in my makeup. I used a matte black color on my outer V to create a contrast effect with “Dazzlelight”, making the light color pop out more.
Although socks with heels have been popping up on runways, I haven’t really followed this trend. However, I like finding items that can totally transform wardrobe or accessories that I already have. I bought a cute pair of Betsey Johnson socks that has a nice design down the front and a little pink rose adorned on the top. I like how this sock transforms an old pair of black high heels and makes them look like boots!
When I create colorful daytime looks, I usually try to incorporate some type of brown with it so that it’s more neutral. For this look, I used a warm golden brown eyeshadow to tone down a bright pink eyeshadow I placed on and above my crease. I added more color by using plum shades on my cheeks and lips. This look is colorful without being too bold for daytime wear.
One of my newest readers, Ola, submitted a fan look with pictures of makeup she put on her mom that was inspired by my Brown, Cream, and Gold Look. The makeup she used are her mom’s collection of Estée Lauder free gift samples (got to love those!) and some drugstore products she has. Here’s how it turned out!
This look is inspired by the colors of the sunset. I kept the bright colors on my lower lid going no higher than my crease, so that the colors will only show up as a thin line when I have my eyes fully open.
