This is the makeup I came up with for Halloween last year. I was Lady Luck, the personification of fortune/chance. I wanted my makeup to be similar to vintage style makeup but with more pizazz (since the theme of fortune and luck got me thinking of Las Vegas).

For my eyes, I used a shimmery light beige eye shadow as highlight and a shimmery brown on my entire lower lid. I lined my lower lash line with a white eye pencil and went over it with a shimmery white eye shadow to set it. The eye shadows I used were all from the Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow Palette. I also lined my upper lash line with a gold glitter liner by NYX to glam up the look even more. Then I used a set of upper and lower spider lashes by Ardell that I found at my local CVS drug store — these lashes are so long and bold that I didn’t even do anything with my natural lashes. I finished the eye with two red Swarvoski flat back crystals, one on the inner and one on the outer part of the eye (try Make Up For Ever Strass in “19 siam red crystals” or “43 Moulin Rouge red, black, and clear crystals”). To attach crystals/rhinestones on your face, use a small amount of Duo Eyelash Adhesive on the back and gently press it on your face for a couple seconds.

I used a bright red eye shadow (also from the same Coastal Scents palette) as blush. On my lips, I lined and then filled in my lips with MAC Lip Pencil in “Cherry” and then topped it with MAC Lipstick in “Red She Said”. If you’ve been too shy to try red lipstick, Halloween is a great time to try it out!
I kept my hair up in a messy bun and secured a mini gold top hat with bobby pins on top of it (the hat sits better on top of a bun rather than just on top of your head, contrary to how it’s pictured on the packaging). The picture on the right shows a closeup of the hat that’s complete with dice and poker chips.

And here’s how my costume looked like! This Lady Luck costume is by Leg Avenue (and so was the hat, which you have to buy separately). The dress, “$” neckpiece, and arm warmers come with the costume. I added my own black petticoat underneath to give it more volume. The bottom of the dress looks like a roulette wheel, the cards on the chest represent royal flushes (the highest ranking standard poker hand), and there are dice used like buttons down the front. I love the detail of this costume — there’s even a (fake) rabbit’s foot, horseshoe, and four leaf clover that hangs on the waist — all to bring good luck!

whoa! love your make up and costume! amazing
