MAC Peacocky Collection + EOTD

MAC’s Peacocky Collection launched on January 6, 2011 here in the U.S. (available internationally in February). This is a fun collection made up of Mega Metal Shadows and Kissable Lipcolours in a wide range of colors from neutral to very bold. These are the items I picked up from this collection:

Mega Metal Shadows are similar in size to MAC Cream Colour Bases, so they are much larger than MAC’s single eye shadows (3.4g vs. 1.5g). However, this means they are also more expensive than the regular eye shadows ($19.50 vs. $14.50), but they could still be a great value since you get over twice the product. I love the smooth texture and the color payoff of these metallic shadows. They blend very easily, and they can be used wet or dry. This Eye of the Day features the two Mega Metal Shadows I got:

There are a total of 15 Mega Metal Shadow shades, but the colors that I was drawn to are “Paparazz-she” (deep copper bronze) and “Odalisque” (deep teal). The swatches are also shown, respectively, on the left side of this picture:

Kissable Lipcolours combine the creamy pigment-rich look of a lipstick with the smooth glide of a lip gloss. I don’t like to wear lip gloss that often, but I really like wearing these. They feel like wearing creamy, lightweight lipstick, and they are not sticky at all. These Kissable Lipcolours have a vanilla scent, and they come in a long, skinny tube with a doe-foot applicator. They cost more than MAC Tinted Lipglass ($18.00 vs. $14.50), but come with about the same amount of product (5g vs. 4.8g). I personally don’t mind the price difference as much, since I find these a lot more comfortable to wear than Lipglass. These come in a total of 12 colors, and I got the following 3:

“So Vain” is a muted dirty coral. This is my favorite of the 3 Kissable Lipcolours I purchased. I’ve been using this with smokey eye looks lately, because it has a pretty natural look on my lips. This color is similar to MAC “Vegas Volt”, one of my all-time favorite lipsticks!

“Flaunting It” is a grey mauve color. This is like a glossy version of MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in “Goes and Goes”, which I also love. :)

“Peacocky” is a medium blue with silver and pink micro-shimmer (MAC’s website says it’s “sky blue with red pearl”, but it doesn’t look like that to me). I just had to get this color, because it’s not often that MAC comes out with a really pigmented blue lip product. This is definitely something to wear if you want to make a bold statement with your makeup. The only downside is that this shade is pretty opaque, so you have to layer it a few times to get it looking as blue as in this picture.

Overall, I think this collection is definitely worth checking out in person and picking out a shade or two in either the Mega Metal Shadows or Kissable Lipcolours that you don’t already have in your makeup collection. They are pricier than regular MAC eye shadows and lip glosses, but the quality of these are worth it. :)
