Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara

The very last step of my makeup routine is applying mascara, so I tend to rush putting it on. However, if I go too fast over my bottom lashes, I usually have to go back and swipe a Q-tip along my lower lash area to pick up any mascara mess. The bigger the mascara wand, the easier it is to make mistakes when going over shorter eyelashes. When I saw the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara in a magazine, I wanted to try it out and see if I could cover my bottom lashes both quickly and neatly.

I went to Sephora and bought Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara in “01 Black” (it also comes in “02 Black/Brown”). The size of this mascara is similar to the size of a MAC Slimshine Lipstick, so it is much smaller than regular mascara. For example, this bottom lash mascara has .07 oz of product whereas Maybelline The Falsies Volum’Express Mascara (the one I use the most) has .28 oz. The picture above on the right shows how the wand looks like — it’s so tiny and cute. :)

Here’s how the mascara wand looks like when I apply it on my bottom lashes. The size is perfect for quick, mess-free application. I also find this wand works great on the hard-to-reach shorter upper lashes near the inner corners of my eyes.

If you click to enlarge the picture above, you can see how my bottom lashes look with and without Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara. Although I can get my lower lashes to look lengthened and defined with my regular mascara, using the smaller wand is very precise and it doesn’t result in clumping! I also like this mascara’s long-wearing formula — I was worried at first since it doesn’t say it’s waterproof on the packaging, but I wore it the whole day (and I have watery eyes) and it didn’t smudge at all. The only drawback is that this Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara is $10.00 for such a little amount of product, but I still think it’s worth it for me to be able to define my bottom and shorter lashes so quickly. Overall, I really like this nifty little mascara (so much that I would buy it again when I run out)!
