Tinted moisturizer is the lightest type of foundation. It’s great for those with clear skin to even out skin tone, for sheer coverage during hot summer days, and for anyone who wants a natural illuminating look. I’ve always liked medium to full coverage foundation, so I usually stick to liquid and airbrush foundation. Tinted moisturizer doesn’t give the flawless look that heavier foundations can give; however, when I started using Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, I really like its lightweight feel yet ability to build coverage that looks natural. It’s perfect for everyday, especially when I’m rushing out the door! And a major plus is that it has SPF 20, which I always make sure to wear daily.
I got the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 – Oil Free in “Bisque” (for light neutral complexions with a balance of yellow and pink undertones). The oil-free (water-based) version of this tinted moisturizer is ideal for sensitive, oily, or acne prone skin. Since it’s water based, it doesn’t apply as smoothly as the original oil-based version, but it still gives really amazing results. I apply this tinted moisturizer with my fingers. When I squeeze some product out of the tube, it feels pretty thick but once applied it feels very lightweight. In terms of coverage, the picture on the right shows (from left to right) how this moisturizer looks out of the tube, with medium coverage, with light coverage, and with sheer coverage. I recommend building coverage in small sections only where you need it.
These two pictures are of me wearing Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer. The picture on the left is a very natural look — only a little bit of blush on the apples of my cheeks (and no contouring) and a natural glossy lip (I’m even wearing clear contacts!) haha This is how I look on my busy days when I don’t have much time to get ready. The picture on the left is this same tinted moisturizer but with more makeup for a going out look. Regardless of how much or little makeup I wear with it, I love how easy and quickly this tinted moisturizer is to use and its long-wearing formula! To get the best long-wearing results, apply some face primer first (or depending on your skin type, apply moisturizer first and then primer), wait about 20 seconds for the primer to dry, apply the tinted moisturizer, and then set it with some powder — and you’re good to go!
The only con I can think of is the price — at $42.00, it is quite a splurge. However, this is now my #1 face product I like to use when I’m not airbrushing. I’m definitely going to keep buying Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer over and over again (I even sent one to my grandma in the Philippines, because it’s wonderful for mature skin as well)!
