I’ve received some requests for a simple everyday makeup look that would work for those without a crease (which some refer to as “monolids”). This natural look is applied the same way, regardless if you have a crease or not. The main eye shadow I used (which is just a couple shades darker than my skin tone) is applied on the entire lower lid, and then blended upward using a windshield wiper motion to fade it into the highlight color. I also applied a little bit of white eye shadow along the tear duct to brighten up my eyes. I used brown liquid liner here since I like my eyeliner to always stand out, but you can just line it however you like. A kohl pencil or eye shadow a few shades darker than your eye lashes smudged close to your lash line gives the most natural look.

Flawless! As always, your eyeliner is perfect. You are a natural beauty!
Aww! I think that this is a really sweet and pretty look. I wish I had as masterful control of eyeliner as you seem to.
Thanks, Lily! <3
Hi Eden-Avalon,
Thanks! Practice makes perfect! In case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a link to my technique for winging eyeliner:

Pretty! Thanks for the tips! If you do your water line too, how do you keep the eyeliner smudging out of control by the end of the day and looking like racoon eyes? Any suggestions for that?
Hi Aileen! For my waterline, I get great results with black MAC kohl pencils (like Smolder and Feline) — it doesn’t smudge, and I can still see a solid black line at the end of the day, even if it faded a little. To improve staying power, I line my waterline with a kohl pencil 1-2 times initially and do something else like apply mascara (to give me time to blink a few times to allow some of the product to shift). Then I line it 1-2 times again to really lock in the color.
You can try a brown kohl pencil with this eye makeup to keep it looking natural. However, if you want to add a pop of color on your water line, colorful pencils tend to lose their vibrancy more easily, and parts of the line may fade depending on how teary your eyes get. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils are my favorite for bright colors, but they can be a bit more difficult to wash off at the end of the day. Hope this helps!
This is a very pretty and natural look! I have such a hard time applying eyeshadow without it looking or being such a daunting task. I have large eyes, but have noticed I don’t have deep set eyes. My natural crease is pretty low, but I have all this eyelid to still work with. LOL I need help! Thanks in advance.
Thanks Jane! My natural crease is pretty low too. When I apply an eye shadow on my entire lid (like in this makeup look), I like to bring the color above my crease. If you click on these pictures to enlarge them, you can see that I blended the lid color past my crease and into the highlight color. This reduces the space I leave for my highlight color, making my eye shadow more balanced even with a lower crease. Give it a try, and let me know how it works out for you!
Hello there! wow, first time to visit your site and I am kicking myself for taking this long to discover it! I just got into makeup, particularly eyeshadows, not good at it yet so I’ve been hitting the blogs. You have the perfect blog based on my standards -it combines technique and creativity! Now a fan.
Thanks Moi!
I’m so excited for you — it’s so much fun trying out different colors and placements! You will get the hang of it with some practice
I can really appreciate this look to wear at my office. It looks classy and polished. The only thing I need to perfect is the cat eye. I am not that great at applying eyeliner! However, I will keep trying it!
The natural make up looks good on you Wycee. I wanna go for this look, at the same time i want my eyes to look smaller. They say darker shades will help but how can i make it more natural?
