Christmas Tree Makeup Look

I’ve been making mix CDs for my mom every couple months for as long as I got my first CD burner sometime in the 90s. One of my favorite mixes to date is a Christmas mix which has as its first track a song about a lonely Christmas tree. My mom really liked this song after hearing it once on the radio, but she didn’t know who sang the song or what it was called. I was so happy when I finally figured out what it was, so that I could surprise her with it in my mix CD (these days, finding a song is much easier with the Shazam app haha :)). My Christmas-inspired makeup look reminds me of this song — “One Little Christmas Tree” by Stevie Wonder:

One little Christmas tree was standing alone, Waiting for someone to come by
One little Christmas tree that never had grown, Cried as he looked up to the sky

“Oh please Mr. Father Tree, the tallest of all, I’m so afraid and so alone
Could one little Christmas tree, so tiny and small, Light up someone’s home?”

‘Cause one little Christmas tree can light up a home, So one little child can find a toy
One little Christmas tree can light up a home, So one little heart can find some joy

One little angel who was riding a star, Cried as she looked down at the tree,
“Oh please Mr. Father Tree, wherever you are, May I give him the star you gave to me?”

Then in the heavens came a voice from afar, A voice that was heard throughout the world
“Go down little angel girl and give him your star, Tonight he’ll light the world”

‘Cause one little Christmas tree can light up the world, So those who are lost may find their way
One little Christmas tree can light up the world, So all men may see on Christmas Day

I created a little tree standing in the snow against a gray sky. I added a gold star on top to represent the star the “little angel girl” gives to the tree to light up the world. :)

– Inglot Eye Makeup Base in “01″ (entire lid)
– Inglot E/S AMC Shine in “35″ (center lid to inner corner, slightly above crease; also apply on tear duct) — this is the white color
– MAC E/S in “Gesso” (highlight)
– Inglot E/S D.S. in “498″ (outer V; blend along outer 3/4 of crease) — this is the dark gray color
– Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in “Perversion” (upper lash line; create a subtle wing — click here to read how to create a winged/cat eyeliner)
– Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in “Perversion” (upper lash line)
– Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in “3” — Iridescent Emerald Green; emerald green sheen (Christmas tree branches — I drew 3 tiers of branches starting from the top, with each tier a little wider than the previous)
– Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in “Demolition” (tree trunk)
– Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in “El Dorado” (gold star on top of the Christmas tree)
– Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in “Bobby Dazzle” (starting from the center upper lash line, apply just above black Perversion; continue along the wing until connect to the end, then feather it out in an upwards curve to look like a snow bank right under the tree)
– Inglot Volume & Waterproof Mascara (two coats on top and one coat on bottom lashes)

– Benefit Bronzing Powder in “Hoola” (contour)
– Tarte Amazonian Clay Long-Wear Blush in “Exposed” (on apples)

– MAC L/S in “Blankety”

Here’s the song if you want to listen to it! It’s a little sad at first, but it’s a song about hope and how even the smallest things can make a difference. :)
