Essie “Mint Candy Apple” Polish and “Pure Pearlfection” Luxeffects Top Coat

On my search for a true mint-colored nail polish, I came across this Essie Nail Polish in “Mint Candy Apple” at my local CVS drugstore a couple months ago. I finally got around to trying it last weekend, and I really love the color! Since I also just got one of the new Essie Luxeffects Top Coats, I applied “Pure Pearlfection” top coat on my ring finger just to try it out. Luxeffects are textured top coats that can be applied on top of any nail color to add dazzle to your nails.

I like “Mint Candy Apple” more for spring since it’s a soft pastel mint color compared to the darker “Turquoise & Caicos” I reviewed back in February (which I’ll be wearing again come summer). I’ve received a lot of compliments while wearing both of these nail polish colors though. The “Pearl Pearlfection” top coat that I used on my ring finger is iridescent — it adds an interesting shimmer to your nails that looks nicer in person than in these pictures. From far away, this top coat gives your nails a silvery-white sheen, but up close you can see very fine shimmer in different colors!

For this particular combination, I prefer “Mint Candy Apple” on its own — I love the creamy finish (on the right), and I think the iridescent shimmer gets in the away of the gorgeous mint color. However, “Pure Pearlfection” looks amazing on top of darker colors, like navy blue. I’ll take some pictures next time I try it! :)
