Snowy Winter Makeup Look
Posted on December 15, 2010 | 11 CommentsThis makeup look was inspired by the white snow and gray skies of winter that I rarely get to see (here in California). I incorporated the white and gray colors of a picture my friend Winnie captured of a snowy winter day into this makeup look. To keep the focus on the eye shadow, I did not use any blush on my cheeks. Any brighter lip color would shift the focus away from the eyes as well, so I used a coral lipstick that's pretty close to my natural lip color. Read more... -
Gray, Brown, and Gold Look
Posted on December 1, 2010 | 2 CommentsThis is the look I wore to Thanksgiving dinner with my family. The eye shadow colors remind me of the brown, gray, and gold iridescence found in turkey feathers. Try this makeup look for your next holiday gathering (especially with red lipstick)! Read more... -
Smokey Taupe Look + My Yellowstone Trip!
Posted on September 14, 2010 | 1 CommentSince taupe is a grayish brown color, I made this smokey look using a gray eye shadow as a base on the lid and smoking it out with a browner taupe color. When smudging the entire upper lash line with a color like brown, it's easier to work with and it's more wearable than when using black. This look can also be worn during the daytime without looking too dramatic -- I wore this makeup on a hike in Yellowstone National Park! Read more... -
Neutral Gray Look
Posted on June 5, 2010 | Leave a CommentThis is an everyday gray look that you can wear to give your usual natural brown looks a break during the week. The beached blonde "Retrospeck" MAC eyeshadow helps soften the darker gray color on the outer V (if you are not yet familiar with this term, take a look at my eye makeup map!). Read more... -
Gray and Gold EOTD
Posted on May 17, 2010 | 4 CommentsI used a gray matte eyeshadow in this Eye of the Day (EOTD) called "Copperplate". This MAC eyeshadow is a great buildable shade -- you can apply it lightly on your outer V and crease to create a nice daytime look, and then add more to your outer V to quickly make your look more dramatic for nighttime.
