Christmas Tree Makeup Look
Posted on December 14, 2011 | 8 CommentsI've been making mix CDs for my mom ever since I got my first CD burner sometime in the 90s. One of my favorites is a Christmas mix that has a song about a lonely Christmas tree. My mom really liked this song after hearing it once on the radio, but she didn't know most of the lyrics. I eventually surprised her with it in my mix CD. This makeup look is inspired by Stevie Wonder's "One Little Christmas Tree" -- it has a little tree standing in the snow lighting up a gray sky with its gold star. :) Read more... -
Mod Makeup Look
Posted on October 19, 2011 | 10 CommentsIn this black and white eye shadow look, I extended a triangular shape on the tear duct to change the shape of the eye, giving it a mod/retro look. The white kohl pencil along the lower waterline also makes the eyes appear bigger. This is more of a statement makeup look that you can wear when you feel daring or on Halloween! I watched Black Swan recently, so this makeup might've been somewhat inspired by that movie. :) Read more... -
White, Gold, and Purple EOTD
Posted on September 12, 2011 | 33 CommentsReader Maria sent me a request for an eye makeup look that she can wear with her formal eggplant purple dress for an Air Force ball. Since she mentioned that she prefers eye shadow that isn't too smokey, I came up with this look that uses neutral colors with a little pop of purple to tie in the color of her dress. I wanted to keep the overall look light but still dramatic for a nighttime look. I also added gold to this look, since gold really stands out with purple. Here's how to do this Eye of the Day! Simple Glam Makeup Look
Posted on July 4, 2011 | 4 CommentsThis is a really easy makeup look you can wear anytime you want to feel extra glamorous! Shimmery white eye shadow along the tear duct brings attention to the eyes, and bright red lips brings the glam (see my step-by-step technique on how to create a red lip). For my readers in the US, this would also be a fun look for 4th of July. Wear this makeup with a blue dress to go with the white eye shadow and red lipstick! :) Read more... -
Gray, Brown, and White Look
Posted on May 11, 2011 | 32 CommentsFor this look, I applied a shimmery white eye shadow on my lid just below my crease and surrounded it with dark brown and gray colors. The contrast created by using light and dark colors makes this a dramatic nighttime look. I applied a bright pop of color on my lips to make them stand out. I used Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics OCC Lip Tar in "Harlot" -- it's a gorgeous vibrant cherry red with a coral undertone. Read more...
